Page 1 of 3 Promotion of the local self-government in Battambang and Siem ReapThe project Asia Urbs 3, “Strengthening of pilot city administrations Battambang and Siem Reap: Revenues and budget, transparency and peoples participation” aims at the socio-economic consolidation and development of the two pilot districts Battambang and Siem Reap.
In order to guarantee a sustainability of district administration institutions created under Asia Urbs 1, Asia Urbs 3 focuses on the following points: Development of a legal framework for collecting fees and taxes on district level Implementation of an transparent, sustainable and consolidated system of budget planning, implementation and control Development of a tourism concept Development of an E-government system for both districts Implementation of information structures (spokesman) Development of new forms of the peoples participation
Furthermore, in the scope of Asia Urbs 1, Asia Urbs 3 supports the newly established district administration, the District Council, the Ombudsman and the Job Placement Agency by the following activities: The master plan for the districts of Siem Reap and Battambang will be completed.
